A little update..

Hi

So this week has been kinda rough in the illustration world. Got slapped in the face hard, I need to pick things up and work work work!!! A big thing I learned is that a great drawing doesn't necessarily equate to a great illustration. It doesn't matter how beautiful a drawing is if it doesn't solve the problem. All this week all I've gotten from my instructors and peers was "...well..it's a nice drawing...but..." man on man hearing that sucks. I just feel like I've been slacking. Like I mentioned before, I need to work work work!!!

Speaking of which, here are some of the assignments I've done in Illustration 3 with Adam McCauley..

1: Design characters: Blanca Bianca and Velvet Twinkle 222: Anti-thesis... Illustration a word using it's opposite meaning: Introvert (i totally failed this assignment im sure........... but at least my drawing is...nice..i guesss.... sigh :/)

Oh well, I'm here to learn! There will be more projects to come

Pinky Swear

Alongside my new found positivity and happiness, I'm going to make it a goal to post on this blog regularly. Hopefully I will update with progress and pieces from all my (fantastic) illustration classes this semester. I am incredibly excited for what's to come and am beyond motivated to stay focus and work hard! Stay tuned!

For now, here are (some) of the pieces I made in Illustration 2 with Alexis Mahrus. Maybe not my absolute best work, but big growing points were made nonetheless.

Here they are in order of when I made them

1. Illustration for children's book on animal facts. My fact was: Rabbits can see behind them without turning their heads.


2. Poster for a charity: Bike Kitchen

This is the sketch before I painted it (I am so attached to my linework.. hopefully with practice I'll be able to bridge the gap between salvaging my lines but taking them a step further)


3. Illustrate a word: Hibernate


4. Illustrate a short story: The Dala Horse from Torr.com

Okay so maybe its harder to stay on top of a blog than i thought...

It was originally going to be done in time for Fanime 2011 but those plans failed... ahh oh well, I still dig this drawing. Hope you do too!

1:32 AM is when I decided...

After years of angsty writing on Livejournal, shitty art on Deviantart, and many hours wasted on Tumblr, I've decided to finally take my blog seriously. Come here often and watch me fiddle around with the english language and crayons.

I really do want this to happen (a promise to myself and my lurkers/mom)
I wanna play with the big kids!
